This week is all about grounds and atmosphere. Watching videos on Turner, Joe Barnes and works by Zurier and others we are off on the journey
Top three experiments with large charcoal blocks compressed and vine charcoal. Sprayed water and blotted with soft paper towels. I recycle the heavy-duty paper towels after their kitchen work and washed in machine.
Bottom rows L-R : watercolor and metallic pigment had to use fixative
layers of watercolor, far right experimenting with granulating watercolors

Carol, look at you go! I'm fascinated by these atmospheric experiments, all of which feel very … atmospheric! I'm especially drawn into the one with metallic pigment—its depth, varied textures, and softnesses.
